Full-time 5 hours ago Full Job Description Duties The Biological Science Technician is responsible for supporting a team of scientist to conduct research across these habitat types and to provide actionable information on ecological and environmental systems for the coastal zone.
In this position, you will:
Contribute to project goals by discussing project priorities, collecting, and processing samples, recording, and analyzing data, and contributing to reports.
Contribute to collection and processing of environmental samples.
This includes surveys, collections, or samples of aquatic and terrestrial fauna and flora, soil, sediment, water, gases, and other environmental samples.
Organize and document data, including digitization, quality control, and metadata documentation.
Coordinate with others to ensure proper sample storage, equipment maintenance, and waste disposal, plan experimental and sampling logistics and schedules, order supplies, and maintain budgets.

Experience:
You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal Service.
For this position Specialized experience is defined as 1) experience supporting an environmental science research program, including collecting and processing soil and water samples in field and laboratory environments and 2) experience operating and maintaining analytical equipment, curating, and analyzing data, coordinating laboratory logistics, and executing multi-phase projects.
OR Education:
Successful completion of one full year of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent graduate degree, if directly related to the position.
Related degrees may include environmental science, earth science, chemistry, biology, or ecology.
OR A combination of education and specialized experience as described above.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.
g.
, Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.
g.
, professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience.
