In this position, you will:
Enforce a wide variety of federal and local laws, rules and regulations.

Qualifications
Experience:
You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the Federal Service.
For this position, specialized experience is defined as:
1) Following written and oral instructions of security officer rules, procedures, and methods to perform security duties, 2)Pursuing and apprehending persons fleeing a crime scene or resisting arrest; and 3) Preparing clear and concise written materials.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.
g.
, Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.
g.
, professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience.

Knowledge of established security officer rules, procedures, and methods to independently perform the full range of security duties and proper use and operation of all issued security equipment.
Ability to monitor and maintain the safety and security of museum spaces to deter theft, vandalism, or any form of danger.
Ability to communicate in writing.
Familiarity with emergency alarms, fire-fighting procedures and fire detection systems installed throughout the facilities.
Applicants who meet or exceed minimum qualifications will be assigned to one of three category groups based on job-related criteria:
Best Category - Meets the minimum qualification requirements and excels in most of the job related competencies above.
Better Category - Meets the minimum qualification requirements and satisfies most of the job related competencies above.
Good Category - Meets the minimum qualification requirements, but does not satisfy most of the job related competencies above to a substantive degree.
This category rating process does not add veterans' preference points or apply the rule of three, but protects the rights of veterans by placing them ahead of non-preference eligibles within each category.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
